Jo - is a cylindrical straight wooden pole, length 128 cm, diameter 25-28 mm. The dimensions of jo depend on personal parameters and preferences. Joe is used as a weapon in many martial arts for kata training, paired with other jo and bokken. The jo can be used to strike, like a sword, like a naginata, with wide sweeping movements, like a spear, with stabbing pins. Both sides are used as a shock surface, unlike one side of the sword. Maai (combat distances) jo can vary depending on the grip that is applied. Thanks to such characteristics as speed and changeable maai - this is a formidable weapon in the hands of an experienced master.

Material: Robinia wood (White Acacia)

Robinia wood (White Acacia) has high strength characteristics, wear resistance significantly exceeding that of oak and ash. The color of the tree is yellow or olive green, the fibers are straight and sharply noticeable. Acacia shows all its advantages as much as possible, because it can serve for many years, withstanding high loads, without being erased and without losing the original attractiveness of the texture.

We wanted to inform you that products made of robinia, like other wood, can have a slightly darker or lighter shade and it is quite difficult to repeat the product in the photo for 100%. Thank you for your feedback. We wanted to inform you that we process the jo with a solid type of natural Italian Borma Wachs oil. It is harder, creates a thin protective layer on the surface, it is very similar to it when varnishing, but the oil has other properties. This type of oil better protects weapons from moisture and dirt, does not crack when hit, as happens with a lacquered surface, over time the oil is rubbed by hands and needs to be renewed. The advantage over liquid ordinary oil such as linseed oil or tung oil is that the protective layer lasts much longer and protects the wood better, the weapon keeps its shiny appearance much longer. The new weapon does not slide in the hand as much as treated with linseed or tung oil, but after a quick period of time the oil little rubs off and it also slides very easily in the hands.
